Seeking a massage therapist or other healing medicine worker!
SSBHY is looking for open hearted and talented professionals who would be interested in bringing their practice to our studio. We are open to many options from massage therapy to thai massage to ayurvedic or chinese medicines...If you know anyone who would be a great fit here, please contact Amanda at info@staffordstreethotyoga.com.
We are looking for pictures!
If those of you who participated have some great photos to share, please send them in to our
info @staffordstreethotyoga so we can post them on our website! Those of you that know our darling student Rick, did you know he got both his feet behind his head in advanced class? I am still in awe!!!
WOW! What Inspiration!!!
What an amazing weekend we got to spend with Ida! Those of you that participated have expressed how much you valued her input and her essence! Seeing the postures in full expression, being able to get personal feedback on your own postures, and simply observing others was enough to fill your cups!
For those of you who couldn't make it, don't worry, Ida wants to come back and visit! She was super impressed with our studio, our community, the excitement we brought to the whole weekend.
To all of you, you can expect to notice inspired and harder working students around you in class! If you have been feeling less motivated or loss of interest in your practice lately, just set up beside those students you see coming often. They have been filled up and overflowing good energy will spread over onto your mat! You may even notice new details about how they conduct themselves, how they interpret the postures better. Having dedicated students enhances our studio and raises the awareness of yoga etiquette and how it can greatly improve your individual practice!
I look forward to seeing you all in class!
and thank you all for such an incredible weekend!

Ida Ripley recent FAQ's
Hi Everyone,
The Ida Ripley weekend extravaganza is less than a week away, and I hope you are as excited as we are! For us Winnipeggers, it is not often that we have the pleasure and privilege to host a talented visiting teacher who has so much experience to share, I would suggest that anyone who loves their Bikram Yoga practice to consider taking part!!!
I would like to clarify that you don't have to be an advanced Bikram student to absorb and enjoy all that Ida has to offer! The master classes being offered on Friday at 6pm, and Saturday at 4 pm for people in the posture clinic, are geared towards all students at any level of practice.
These particular classes and sessions require sign-up so we know how many to expect; please sign up at the reception desk. The posture clinic on Saturday is almost full, so if you have been humming and hawing, sign on up! The $75 cost includes a master class at the end! Here is what you can expect:
1. You will set up your mats and towels at 10:30-ish am, and hang out in the hot room (which will be cooling down).
2. Ida will talk through and have question and answer for any students on any of the 26 postures...
3. She will help individuals with particular postures if you simply ask! This is so much fun, and everything you see and hear, you will gain in personal knowledge to apply to your own practice. This is how we learn yoga. You must see, observe, ask questions, and hear other people's questions to fill in the gaps that you have, and then the fun part, applying all that you have learned into your class, and WOW, now the Bikram beginners series is fresh and new all over again! The changes and sensations you will feel in your practice make this an invaluable experience!
You may bring a snack to have in the room while the clinic is going on: energy bars, juices, fruits and veggies, extra water bottles - fuel so that you feel great to practice at 4pm following the 4 hour clinic. But don't eat right before!
I am hoping to have some raw food snacks and beverages available Saturday by our new friend Amanda who has a budding business Orange Lily Raw Foods and Catering! Stay Tuned!
Oh, the advanced class on Sunday is also open to ANY students who would like to either observe or participate in these 84 advanced postures. It is a free class. If you want to participate, you must take the 10:30am class prior to the advanced class so that you are warmed up. Yup, that's the way we do it...first a regular beginner Bikram class, then a short break before the advanced class, which runs for a couple of hours. Sign up at the reception desk for the 10:30 warm-up class and the advanced seminar.
There is information available from previous blogs here and here. We are looking forward to seeing you this weekend...let us know if you have any other questions!
